Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information JM Performance collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We are the data controller for the purposes of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
JM Performance, 14 Blackstaff Road, Kircubbin, Newtownards, County Down BT22 1AQ. You can reach us on 07801 265432 or by email at the address shown on our contact section.
What we collect
- Details you give us. When you use the enquiry form or message us, we receive your name, phone number, email address, vehicle registration, town and whatever you write in the message.
- Vehicle information. If you use the registration checker, the registration you type is processed to look up vehicle details. We do not store it unless you then send us an enquiry.
- Service records. If we work on your vehicle we keep a record of the work, including your original ECU file, so the vehicle can be returned to standard later.
- Website analytics. Anonymous, cookieless page-view counts only. No personal data, no cross-site tracking. See the cookies section below.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To answer your enquiry and quote for work — legitimate interests, and steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
- To carry out the work and keep service records — performance of a contract.
- To keep your original ECU file — legitimate interests, so your vehicle can always be returned to standard.
- To understand how the site is used — legitimate interests, using anonymous cookieless analytics that cannot identify you. If we ever use cookie-based analytics, we will ask for your consent first.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations — legal obligation.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for marketing. We share it only where necessary with:
- Vehicle data providers, when you use the registration checker, to return details for that registration.
- Our accountant and, where required, HMRC.
- WhatsApp or your mobile network, if you choose to contact us that way. Those services have their own privacy policies.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become jobs are deleted within 12 months. Records of completed work, including invoices, are kept for six years to meet accounting requirements. Original ECU files are kept indefinitely so your vehicle can be returned to standard at any point — ask us and we will delete yours.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to have it transferred elsewhere. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Contact us and we will respond within one month.
If you are not happy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. There is no advertising, no tracking across other websites and no profiling.
Two small entries are kept in your own browser's storage. Neither is sent anywhere and neither identifies you:
- A note that you have already seen the intro animation, so it does not replay on every page.
- Your cookie preference, if you are ever asked for one.
If we use website analytics, we use a cookieless service that records only page views, approximate country and referring site. It cannot identify you and stores no personal data, which is why no consent banner is needed for it. Should we ever switch to a service that does set cookies, a banner will appear first and nothing will load until you agree.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Any API keys used for vehicle lookups are held server-side and never exposed in the browser.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page.
